Johnny loves me played at SWN

'I noticed, and was also told, that the Cardiff music scene is very supportive of each other by attending each other's shows and giving extra energy to the people on stage. People are willing to play the role of the audience. I wasn’t sure if my music would resonate, but with one English song, a few parts that were easy to translate, and by chatting and even joking with the audience, I think I managed to draw them into my story. Even if they didn’t fully understand it on a cognitive level, I believe it connected on an emotional level. I also included some more danceable songs in the set, which of course hardly needed any translation.'

From October 17 to October 21, Johnny Loves Me performed at Sŵn Festival through our Excite partner Gorwelion Horizons. Sŵn Festival is an award-winning contemporary music festival that has been a cornerstone of Cardiff's cultural landscape since 2007, featuring multiple venues. The festival showcases new music and emerging talent, presenting a diverse range of artists from local to international acts. On the 19th of October, Johnny loves me visited a networking event at BBC.

Johnny Loves Me is the expressive travelogue of Jonathan "Johnny" Bergsma. Through singing, rapping, playing, speaking, and visual storytelling, Johnny shares what resonates with him during his exploration of life. From love to disgust towards others or oneself, from heartache to healing, and from daily struggles to the beauty of the ordinary, he packages these experiences into accessible yet layered alternative pop tunes, influenced by artists like Spinvis, Dominic Fike, Frank Ocean, and Tyler, the Creator.
