Laguna collaborated with NFNR

In January 2024, artists Laguna and the Ukrainian artist NFNR went into residency at Lakewoozoo studio in Leeuwarden.

"I had a very pleasant collaboration with Olesia for three days. We clicked well, despite having very different working methods. That’s why I found it so interesting to work for three days with someone who approaches her music in a different way and collaborates differently. We really put in the effort to gather and record as much 'material' as possible. Olesia, NFNR, will continue producing the song in Kyiv. We definitely intend to release it in the future."

NFNR, also known as Ukrainian electronic musician, theater, and film composer Olesia Onykiienko, began as a choir conductor and transformed choral music into electronic compositions in various genres. At the end of this residency, she also performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag 2024 in Simplon.

Laguna is the brainchild of songwriter Bente Hout. You might already know Bente as the frontwoman of the dream-pop band Sväva. After Sväva disbanded, Bente decided to work from a more conceptual and project-based starting point. This approach allows her to create space to form a (partially) new artistic team for each project, with markers from different disciplines. In her music, she is candid about feeling lonely, restless, and searching.
