"I thought it was fantastic that I got to do this. I didn’t expect to end up in such a place and meet people who are so different. Because it really is completely different. For example, just the fact that there are so few people there, that was truly a special feeling. There’s a lot of music in Iceland, but it felt to me more like a fun hobby. That’s, of course, a totally different attitude from the one I have about music. I got a good sense of the culture there. People are warm, open, and super open-minded. I thought that was really cool and inspiring."
The visit consisted of five days in residence and a busy schedule where Moonloops performed at various venues in Reykjavik as part of the off-venue festival Iceland Airwaves. Iceland Airwaves is a festival that shines a light on new talent and discovering new music, set against the backdrop of Icelandic nature and the atmosphere of Reykjavik. Moonloops was also part of a workshop led by Gudmundur Oskar from the popular Icelandic band Hjaltalín.
Moonloops is the brainchild of Sarah. With an old guitar and a head full of stories, she creates harmonious indie pop and sings about dreams, wishes, and hope.
