shoom went to Denmark

While our pagan music echoed across the Allé stages of SPOT Festival, treating the rain-soaked yet enthusiastic Danish crowd to tinnitus from the haute cuisine, a sense of bliss washed over me. How on earth did we end up here? It was Wednesday morning. Still half-asleep, we boarded our four-wheeled ship, with which we would attempt to cross the infinite sea of traffic jams that is Germany. Our destination: Aarhus, Denmark. Once we arrived at our cottage near Thorsager, it became clear that the grueling journey—characterized by a cocktail of stifling body odor, cheesy Dutch hits, and a plethora of bathroom breaks—was more than worth it. On the living room dresser we found a copy of Norah Jones’s Feels Like Home: a fitting description of this remote little spot that we would call home for the next three days. We added our own touch of coziness with drums and amplifiers—an odd combination to some, perhaps, but not to us. In this brand-new, therapeutic studio, we spent three days working on new material for shoom. In the blink of an eye, our residency was over, but our Odyssey was far from concluded. On Saturday morning, we headed for Aarhus, where SPOT was in full swing. The adventure that awaited us there cannot be bound by grammatical laws or the limits of a dictionary, and so I lay down my pen here. Mange tak, shoom

From our Go! open call earlier in May, shoom was selected to play at showcase festival SPOT in Aarhus, Denmark taking place on May 2 & 3. Their trip to Denmark was combined with a three day residency in Thorsager.

Since their debut in a cozy Dutch living room in 2022, this instrumental five-piece has been on a wild ride — opening for Battles and Ice Age, playing ESNS (three times!), touring with Popronde, and recently hitting the road in the UK.
