Helen Jewett came together thanks to an impromptu schoolworkshop involving a bucket of name tags. After a fewrehearsals and some pub chats about the complexities ofexistence, the band began to dream and work toward a positionthey never dared to imagine for themselves.
With a shared love for bands like Joy Division, Radiohead, andMy Bloody Valentine, they started crafting songs that mergedthe genres they were most passionate about—post-punk andshoegaze—with touches of folk, electronica, hardcore, andambient. Their poetic lyrics, reflecting on existentialism, nostalgia, and the turbulence of modern life add a profoundand evocative layer to their music, inviting listeners into aicy and introspective soundscape.
